The different water filter systems!
If your thinking about getting a water filter system, then you are of course faced with the questions; which system is my favourite and from what manufacturer.
Below you will find some comments about systems that are available on the market and what they are capable of.
The Jug filter
The jug filters goal is to improve the taste and smell of water. The main purpose is to reduce limescale and chlorine in the water. The guarantee made is that the water is nearly calcium and magnesium free. Normally a ion exchanger is used that exchanges minerals causing hardness and magnesium ions for other ions. Not only is something taken out of the water, but something is added to the water, namely natrium ions.
Jug filters are not suitable for the reduction of heavy metals or other contaminating substances and do not make this claim either.
These appliances are very price worthy, but the cartridges have to be changed very often and therefore have high consequential costs.
Osmosis filtration
Reverse osmosis frees mains water of unwanted contamination and mineral causing hardness via physical method, thereby resulting in a pure and extremely soft water.
In continents such as Asia or other risk areas – where the water is rather bad – it is certainly sensible to think about the purchase of an osmosis filter system.
We recommend osmosis filter systems when there is an exaggerated nitrate concentration, that cannot be removed when filtered with a coal block cartridge.
The disadvantage is the percentage of bad water/waste water – in the best case 1:3.
The purchase and maintenance costs specifically in the german spoken regions are in part highly inflated, due to multi-level sales/pyramid selling.
Reverse osmosis filtration can only be installed by technically skilled and trained tradesmen.
In additiion the service is complex. For this reason, service contracts are often offered when purchasing this type of filtration system. Which of course is reflected in the consequential costs.
Under the tab „Drinking water“, we have dealt with reverse osmosis giving this subject more attention and detail.
Sanquell does not have osmosis systems in our stocks, but we do have a good business partnership with a company having a reputable nature.
We make every effort to make a special point concerning this subject, as it is unfortunate that in this area there are alot of untested und unreputable methods, that are actually illegal and potentially interested customers are sold extremely expensive appliances.
Distiller
These appliances use a lot of electrical energy to practically cause a similar affect to distillation and have otherwise no purpose. For this reason we will refrain from going into any further details for this type of water preparation.
Coal Block filter
This type of water filter together with the osmosis appliances are most often to be found in the world. Why?
These appliances, whether as the counter top version (CT) or the comfortable under table version (UT), are easy to install and easy to change filters – far more user friendly for the end consument than the osmosis appliances. German water works also use active coal filters in order to detoxify certain types residues.
The installation of the counter top filter systems is considerably easy and can be installed by a normal consumer. For the under table systems we recommend that installation take place through a qualified tradesman.
For information concerning the filter cartridges and which cartridge can be used for determined purpose, please refer to our reduction table.
With all of the Sanquell filters we have specifically paid attention to easy installation and that the cartridges can be speedily changed by using our „Quick“ connection for the under table appliances even allowing fitting to sinks.
For all of our filter systems the energising appliances that we offer can be simply and quickly installed. Via the 3D colour detailed diagram (that accompanies the instructions of use), it is easy to see how the filter can be assembled and installed.
